Leonard Miller is a 19-year-old, unpolished forward who is ascending rapidly and impressing many, but still a far-from-finished product.Jaylen Clark was perhaps the best perimeter defender in college basketball last season, but may not see the court next season as he works his way back from an Achilles injury suffered in March. Both Minnesota draft picks share traits Timberwolves basketball boss Tim Connelly and his staff seek out when evaluating prospects.“I think toughness, competitiveness,” Connelly said. “Everyone swears by these guys in terms of what they’re bringing to the building every day. For the first time in six years, the Avalanche will begin an NHL season away from home. The Avs will start the 2023-24 campaign on a three-game West Coast road swing, with opening night Oct. 11 (8 p.m. MT) at the Los Angeles Kings, followed by games in San Jose and Seattle. That means an early return to the hostile environment where Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar faced boos for the first time in his life during the 2022 playoffs. The Kraken eliminated the Avs in seven games. What jumps out to me more than the opener in L.A. is how early the #Avs revisit Seattle. By MEG KINNARD (Associated Press)COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley on Tuesday criticized former President Donald Trump for being too friendly to China during his time in office, while also warning that weak support for Ukraine would “only encourage” China to invade Taiwan. Haley, a Republican presidential candidate running against Trump, said in a speech at the American Enterprise Institute that Trump was “almost singularly focused” on the U.S.-China trade relationship but ultimately did “too little about the rest of the Chinese threat.”Specifically, Haley noted that Trump failed to rally U.S. allies “against the Chinese threat” and that he had congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 70th anniversary of Communist Party rule in China.“That sends a wrong message to the world,” Haley said. “Chinese communism must be condemned, never congratulated.”Haley’s comme...Latest news
