Lisa M. Krieger | Bay Area News GroupSmell and slime are sure signs of a bird that’s gone bad.But the U.S. Food and Drug Administration offers more helpful advice for how long to keep your Thanksgiving leftovers. You have two to three days to safely eat or freeze your turkey, it says. The same goes for giblets.Three to four days is also a good guideline for soups and vegetable stews, especially if they contain meat. Was your Thanksgiving less traditional? Cooked beef, veal, lamb and pork should be eaten more quickly — within two to three days, the FDA says. While uncooked fish only stays fresh for two days, cooked fish can last three to four days. (If fish is smoked, it’s good for two weeks.)And that opened package of hot dogs will last a week. If unopened, it’s still safe at two weeks. The same time limits apply to luncheon meats.Sausage, if raw, is only safe for a day or two. Smoked links are healthy for a week.If you freeze your food — at 0 degrees Fahrenheit — it will last indefini...Sauced? Allegedly drunk Massachusetts woman crashes into a cranberry bog: Police

VANCOUVER — The union representing Vancouver’s police officers says it has reached a tentative labour agreement that, if passed, will see its members become Canada’s highest-paid officers.Vancouver Police Union president Ralph Kaisers says negotiations with their employers began earlier this year, and the tentative collective agreement was reached on Oct. 31.Kaisers says Vancouver city council and the police board have already ratified the deal, while union members will vote on the agreement between Nov. 26 and Dec. 7.Under the new agreement, a first-class constable’s annual pay will rise from just short of $112,000 to roughly $122,000 starting in 2024. The new deal also offers improved maternity and parental leave, which Kaisers says is a major benefit for staff recruiting and retention after word that about 20 female officers were considering going elsewhere for better benefits. Daryl Hall has sued his longtime music partner John Oates, arguing that his plan to sell off his share of a joint venture would violate the terms of a business agreement the Hall & Oates duo had forged. The move quickly prompted a judge to temporarily block the sale while legal proceedings and a previously initiated arbitration continue.A Nashville chancery court judge issued the temporary restraining order on Nov. 16, writing that Oates and others involved in his trust can’t move to close the sale of their share of Whole Oats Enterprises LLP to Primary Wave IP Investment Management LLC until an arbitrator in a separately filed case weighs in on the deal, or until the judge’s order expires — typically within 15 days, unless a judge extends the deadline.Chancellor Russell Perkins issued the order the same day Hall filed his lawsuit, which was largely brought forth under seal, obscuring most details. An order Wednesday by the judge allowed more filings to be made public...Andrew Cuomo accused of sexual harassment by former aide in new legal filing

Should he believe government agencies’ assessment of when the air, land and water will be safe enough for his family to return?Or will political and economic pressures to rebuild and restore Maui’s robust tourism industry — where visitors normally spend $14 million per day — lead officials to look at any testing results through rose-colored glasses?“It appears very important to them to get that tourism tax revenue back,” said Skousen. “It makes you wonder if the testing will be biased.”The fire blew out Skousen’s windows and filled his home with ash, but the building is still standing, and he hopes someday to move back in.
